"can't get better than this" 2009-05-29
By Vincent Szabo
I have tried to use company warranties and fight and fight with manufactures. this time i bought a warranty from square trade and held my breath six months later the tv went dead. i reported it 24 hours later i was sent a link saying a refund was approved and a free mailing label to return it 2 days after they received it i got a refund. It can't get better than this !!! I know have 3 warraties with them and today it will be 4 with the one i bought for my replacement TV. great company

"Squaretrade is as good as their word! (don't throw away your receipt)" 2009-04-06
By S. Chi (Washington D.C.)
I purchased a 42" flat screen tv a few years ago, and was naturally concerned about what to do after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty had expired. The store offered its own extended warranty program, but I was hesitant about putting down hundreds of dollars for a 3 year extended warranty. Surely there was something more economical with the same, or better service?

I heard, via word of mouth, of a third-party alternative called Squaretrade. Intrigued, I checked reseller ratings, and was very shocked to see a lifetime rating of 9.7. I read many of the reviews, and they all consistently praised ST's dedication to fulfilling its warranty promises. Of the few that were not pleased with ST service (and some of them were the customer's fault), I was impressed by the follow-up messages left by ST's representatives to resolve the situation.

Convinced, I ended up purchasing a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade, for just ~$40. ST runs monthly %-off discounts, so you can always get a very good bargain. To clarify, if I remember correctly, the 3 year warranty is really a 2 year warranty, since the first year overlaps with the first year of the manufacturer's warranty. However, you should read the fine print to double check.

Talk about knocking on wood. My TV broke recently, and so I submitted my claim form to ST, which primarily comprised faxing a copy of my receipt to them (don't throw it away!), and describing my problem. I was expecting a reply a few months later, but Squaretrade promises resolution in less than week. I was shocked to find in my email inbox, a message from ST indicating that since it was cost prohibitive to ship my TV back to them for repairs, they would instead be refunding my original purchase price in its entirety, through PayPal. Sure enough, the money was sent the next day.

This is legendary service, the kind consumers dream about. You can buy a ST warranty with complete confidence, and be assured of their guarantees. Regarding TVs, they will not cover certain issues, e.g. burn-in on a plasma, and lamp replacements on DLPs. Again, check the fine print (don't worry, there's not too much to read).

I'm going to be buying all my warranties through ST in the future, recommending them to my friends and families, and making sure my children, and my children's children buy Squaretrade warranties. I wholeheartedly recommend them (and no, I'm not getting paid by ST to write this review).

High Quality Wall Mount for your Home / Office. The mount can be mounted to any studs up to 30" apart. Free onboard leveler for easy installation. Will This mount Fit my Plasma TV? Always check the weight of your TV. It must be less than 165 lbs
Check your TV's owner's manual for mounting guidelines. You'll see the word "VESA" followed by numbers, which tells you how far apart the holes on the bracket or TV are in millimeters. For example, VESA 200x100 means that the holes are in a rectangle, with two sides measuring 100mm (about 4 inch) and two sides measuring 200mm (about 8 inch). You should be able to find that information in the owner's manual, or you can measure the holes yourself . If the vertical distance is within 18" inch, horizontal distance within 28" inch, then this mount will fit.
Next, measure your screen is wider and taller than the mount, otherwise the mount can not be hidden behind the TV. Your TV should be at least 32 inch wide. This mount is VideoSecu brand. Please report to Amazon.com if you recieve a mount without VideoSecu logo.

"Refurb. Samsung is still not working" 2007-10-20
By James M. Gorey (Chicago, Illinois United States)
When we first plugged in the TV, we were impressed with the picture, but soon, the screen started to scramble and stayed that way for 5 to 10 minutes. It went back to normal for a bit, but continued to scramble. We called Amazon, were of course routed to a foreign country, and after 30 minutes, was finally told that we had to contact Samsung directly. The TV was barely under warrenty since it was a refirb. and the TV has been at a local repair shop for three weeks now, with no return date in sight. It's been month today since ordering and we're still watching our old 25 inch SDTV. Not happy at this point with our purchase...

I placed an order that was accepted by Butterfly Photo. A week leater I got an e-mail saying they wanted to substitute a "better" model, LNT4065F. I checked the Internet and found I could buy the "better" model 4065F at a price more than $200 less than my original price for the LNS4096D.

By S. Fernandez (San Andreas, CA USA)
Since I'm buying an HDTV for a video games system like the PS3. Does this TV support PS3 HDMI at 1080p?

The only other HDTV I'm used is a Visio and it only has 1080i. But it didn't support HDMI with video games systems, you had to use Component cables not HDMI.

"4096 Sammy is rrreal nice, Clark." 2007-05-16
    By T. Ham
Great tv as expected. I don't know about you guys but buying such an expensive television online (not tangible) made me very nervous. The price vs. risk/reward was worth it and so far it has worked out perfectly. I saved 5-600 dollars buying from Amazon over the local CC or BB. Bought a $80 Peerless mount from Mounts and More, hung it up and it looks incredible. Standard def programs look very good considering it is a 1080p high def tv trying to process and display a regular crappy cable signal. I truely believe for the price I paid it is the best bang for the buck in the 40" lcd category. I sit approximately 10-16 feet from the set and it is plenty big. I personally think people are buying much bigger TV than they need, and what they don't realize is that with most HD big screen tv's (40 and up), the picture is pretty fuzzy from close up. Some of manufacturer's viewing distances are a bit low in my opinion. If you're getting a 50 or bigger, you better be sitting 15 feet away at the closest spot. Anyway, this Sammy is really a good piece of work - quick changes between inputs, razor sharp hd picture, nearly equally sharp standard dvd picture(pscan), and very good standard def picture. Picture and picture is great - I can watch one half from the digi cable box and on the other half is the standard cable picture per a splitter. It only has 1 tuner but that's all you need for most PIP users. Remote is good, but I don't use it. I use my receiver remote that learns keys. It starts up very quick compared to my dad's lcd rear projection - 3 seconds after hitting the on switch and it is running full blast. Sad thing is, this review will probably be worthless because this set is almost obsolete since Sammy's new models just came out a month or 2 ago. But if you can find one I wouldn't hesitate. I've had it for 2.5 months and it's smooth sailing so far. I'm hoping the 50,000 hour life span estimate is accurate so in 2022 I'll still be enjoying it (yea right).

    Amazon.com Product Description

For anyone looking for a great value on a 720p HDTV, Samsung's 2007 model LNT3242H 32-inch flat-panel LCD is an excellent choice. As Samsung's entry level 40-inch LCD, it offers a 7000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a 170-degree viewing angle, an 8ms response time panel, 3 HDMI inputs, and SRS TruSurroundXT from two side speakers. Between the design update, the aditional connections, and improved contrast ratio this model represents a distinct improvement on the popular comperable 32-inch Samsung from 2006 (LNS3241D).

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

    • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
    • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
    • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

    Connections:

    • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) 3
    • RF in 1
    • Component (Y/Pb/Pr) in 2
    • S-Video input 2(1 side/1 rear)
    • A/V input 2(1 side/1 rear)
    • PC input 1
    • Headphone jack 1

What's in the box: Samsung LNT3242H LCD TV, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, Power Cord, stand, cleaning cloth, owners manual, warranty card.

"I'm not sure if I should hate the TV or Time Warner Cable in NYC" 2009-06-30
By D. Lamblin (New York, NY United States)
I have had this TV for three years. Generally I like this HDTV, the build quality is good. It shows a very decent picture for HD channels, and an okay version of standard broadcasts. I personally cannot seem to get any HD over the air due to my street level location in Manhattan, so I haven't tested that part of the feature set. Interestingly it runs Linux and you can get the source at [...] but you probably won't be able to actually build or deploy it to the TV because there's no clear documentation for the process.

There is a problem with it that I consider to be just serious enough to make it un-recommendable, while not serious enough to make me spend money on another TV. Mainly because I don't watch much TV. Also If you use a cable box, you will probably never notice this. I have downloaded the latest firmware and updated it via USB, yet I still have the same problems I've had since the first week. Specifically the problem is that the TV needs to be retuned approximately bi-weekly, though I tend to hold off to about once a month. Why it needs to be retuned is because after the any tuning it will forget some channels every few weeks. Yes, it just forgets them. E.G. there is channel 2-1 (CBS) and 5-1 (FOX), which will sometimes get deleted so that you skip them until you undelete them in the not so easy to use channel-list feature, or sometimes they will disappear from the channel list entirely so you cannot just undelete them and must retune your set. Occasionally they will stay on the channel list, but will forever be totally black as if there's no signal there anymore. This sounds mildly-painful, but when you realize that you can only auto-tune, and that this takes a FULL 40 MINUTES, redoes all your channels, turns back on all the shopping and preaching channels you may have deleted, clears all of your favorites, and finally might miss a channel that was working before you re-tuned, you realize that it's actually a huge pain. Also as it's a 40 minute process, you will miss whatever show you planned on seeing.

Aside from this problem I also find that it will sometimes forget my favorites, or move a favorite tag to a channel I did not favorite. This is odd but I'll live. Also the info box is always off into the future by one hour despite having the current time set correctly. If I turn on daylight savings, it is off by two hours into the future. So I can't find out what show I'm watching now, I can only find out what show will be on next. There's no index of these either (except the cable provided channel that lists that stuff).

To be fair, I've been told that what's happening is due to Time Warner Cable. However TWC denies doing this. Also I doubt any such capability to remote command the tuning in a TV exists. It would be crazy of them to mess with customers like that, but it would allow them to "solve" customers' problems by renting them a cable box. But again, other televisions aren't behaving this way with the same service. So I am apt to believe the firmware driving this TV is unreliable. Apparently it is outsourced from Samsung to a small consultancy in California that likes to sell Linux based firmware solutions to big companies. But apparently there's nothing in it for either Samsung or the consultancy to fix such issues, as it's better to discontinue the TV and ship a newer one with new firmware and features.

"A pretty good TV for the price" 2008-04-07
    By El Geraldo (Texas, USA)
I already have a Samsung LN-S4095D (40", 1080p) for the family room and I bought the LN-T3242H for my bedroom. It is noticeably lower picture quality than the big Samsung; it's not just the lower resolution - I only ever watch 480i content anyway. The analog tuner is also not so good - PQ is better if I watch the DVR from the room next door on the composite video input. The main thing I notice is that blacks are nice and black but there's not much effort at grayscale rendition.

However, it is perfect for the application and less than half the price of the 40" set.

I looked at several 32" sets (Vizio, LG, Toshiba) and the Samsung is much better all round. Toshiba is a very thick profile and has next to no input flexibility. Vizio enclosure is ugly.

     "Good Price, Ok value" 2008-12-04
    By E. Ingram (Chicago)
So I just bought this from Walmart for $498.00 dollars. I figured its not a bad price since its a good brand. I always liked Samsung tvs so I figured this would be a good value. I do not have HD signal at my house and I know that some TVs don't work well with SDTV when they are ment for HD signal - In my opinion, this is one of them. This is a good tv for the price, but I am not pleased with it. I am sure if I paid for the HD signal it would be much better, but the picture on my 20" sony flat glass tv is much more crisp with SDTV than the samsung ln32A300. If you have HD this is good, even though its only 720p. I wish it was better on regular tv signal.

     "Good value HDTV" 2008-12-04
By old timer (Radcliff, KY United States)
Out of the box I had to assemble the stand and put batteries in the remote, just needed a cross tip screwdriver. It took the set a while to search out all the available cable channels, but it worked fine right from the start. It found a few channels I didn't know were available. Picture is great and it adjusts for the signal automatically, whether standard analog or digital 480 or 720 or 1080i input signal. I hooked up a 1080i upconvert cd player by HDMI cable for the CD movies and it works good. All I had to do for using my pc was to connect the cable and select a screen resolution the TV supported. I thought the side speakers good, but I also have my stereo hooked up for when I play movies. My son's Samsung has more features, but he paid more too. Got mine for $498.

Available in a rang of sizes and styles to compliment your needs anywhere in your home, these sets can be used as an HDTV monitor or just to watch the evening news. At just a few inches thick, these products small size belies their powerful capabilities.

    Amazon.com Product Description

The Samsung LTP227W vaults viewers squarely into the 21st century. The 22-inch LCD model functions as both a TV and computer monitor, and it's capable of receiving high-definition content when paired with an HD receiver. More impressively, the TV is designed to switch effortlessly between different media, and it even broadcasts two at once, meaning users can surf the Web in one window while watching HBO in another. The crisp 1,280 x 720 resolution ensures impressively realistic images on the narrow, flat LCD screen (which includes a wide 170-degree viewing angle). The screen also adds a striking design element to a room, with a black and silver bezel that draws attention without dominating.

The monitor's picture is enhanced by Samsung's exclusive Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe), which optimizes motion, contrast, detail, and color to create vivid, lifelike pictures. Colors are more accurate, motion is sharper, and edges are more defined. The TV also includes a 3D digital comb filter that precisely separates the color signals to further clarify broadcasts, along with a specially designed filter that reduces or eliminates reception problems. The multimedia picture-in-picture feature not only lets viewers watch programs from two sources simultaneously, but also format them on a split screen in addition to a larger and smaller window.

Movie fans will delight in the 16:9 letterbox format, which broadcast select DVDs in a widescreen layout. The TV includes such additional features as a multilingual onscreen menu system, automatic tuning on the built-in NTSC tuner for up to 181 channels, adjustable picture and sound settings that store in the unit's memory, V-chip parental control, and an automatic timer that turns the TV on and off.

Fortunately for home theater buffs, the LTP227W doesn't ignore the audio, with a pair of 5-watt stereo speakers and MTS multichannel decoding that includes a separate audio program (SAP) when available. For users that prefer a richer experience, the unit simulates the surround sound effect through its SRS WOW option, which also emphasizes midrange and bass levels.

Connectivity occurs through the two component inputs and single S-video, RF, and two composite inputs. The component inputs are designed to accept HD receivers and DVD players for unparalleled video quality, while the composite inputs are ideal for camcorders and video game consoles. The unit also connects to a PC through its DVI and RGB inputs, letting users check their e-mail, surf the Web, and watch online movies through the TV.

    What's in the Box
TV, remote control, two AAA batteries, power cord, RF cable cord, user's manual.

"In it's day, this was one fine display!" 2009-03-03
By BlackSCRunner (Boston, MA United States)
Obviously this is an older product, and newer products have more and better features, nicer picture, and are cheaper. That being said, props to Samsung for delivering a product that has gotten used every day in my kitchen since I bought it 4 years ago, and is still working like the day I bought it. The newer TV's will outshine this old girl, but she runs strong and really has a great picture. We watch this TV more than any other in the house, and the picture is bright even in the sunniest room!

"Decent Panel ...while it lasted." 2006-04-19
    By Theo Skye (Rockville, MD)
This LCD TV has a very nice picture. It has a good range in the dark grays and the colors are very pleasing, especially with HD content. I have only used this TV with the DVI input direct from a Comcast (Motorola) cable box. It is on my desk about 36" away from my eyeballs. So, considering my extremely close viewing distance, this TV does have a far better than average picture. I can't rate the speakers, because I've never used them.

Ever since I first hooked up the TV, about once per month or so, the TV's picture would randomly go to black while watching TV. It wouldn't give the "No Signal" error message or anything...just a black screen. I would have to turn the set off and then turn it back on again to get the picture back (which takes about 10 seconds total). I had this same experience with two different cable boxes that each had no problems with other TV's I own that have a DVI input. By the way, the TV sounds a strange, descending electronic chime whenever you turn it off. And whenever you turn it on it plays a similar but ascending electronic chime. It's kind of annoying and unprecedented. I never really minded the chimes, but still find it to be very odd. Perhaps this behavior is more common for electronics in other continents(?). Anyway, exactly one year and 18 days after I purchased this set, two things have suddenly and inexplicably gone wrong with the TV. First, the DVI input will only show a picture for about two senconds and then invariably goes black. This now happens every time, consistently, without fail, making the DVI input essentially useless. Very sad. I tried switching to every standard resolution that the cable box could output (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i), all with the same results. ALSO, whenever I now press the "Menu" button on the remote or the TV itself, the menu attempts to display, but the menu graphics are so garbled, slanted and messed up that the TV's internal menu is totally unusable. The component input still seems to work fine. And I use the cable box for tuning. I can still use this set with the component input and that still looks great. But I'm not feeling very secure in this panel's reliability. I paid about $90 per month to own this TV before it had these problems. And taking it somewhere to be repaired is probably not worth it for me.

So I, therefore would recommend that you look elsewhere for an LCD TV in this size. Even a different model Samsung with high ratings would be better than this one. Samsung does make some very, very good panels. I have 3 different Samsung computer monitors in my home (19", 21.3", and 24") and they all look and operate as well as the first day I bought them--the smaller ones years ago. My unscientific theory, based only on my own experiences, is that this particular model of LCD TV has some reliability and performance problems with its internal electronics. The panel itself is fine, but the "boards" that the inputs attach to are faulty somehow, especially where the digital (DVI) input is concerned.

     "Excellent Television, and Monitor" 2005-09-27

At $650, there's hardly anything that comes close to what you get with this beautiful Samsung. Sleek design, beautiful picture quality, intuitive and powerful menus, good connectivity....(just make sure to pick up a VGA-DVI adapter if your video card doesn't support DVI. Changed my life. Buy. Buy. Buy.

"TV, Computer Monitor, Video Game Center" 2005-02-19
    By Chris (Glen Allen, VA)
This television is the best you can buy for the price ($1169 at Circuit City on sale) - I'll break it down by its possible uses:

    Television:

With an analog television signal, the picture is mediocre - but that's true of most LCDs (and with how bad analog signals are getting, that might be true of all TVs these days). With an HDTV signal, the picture is crisp, clean, and static graphics don't waver like on most LCD televisions in this price range. Fast moving action doesn't blur or pixelate at all.

    DVD playback:

When hooked up with component or S-video cables, DVDs are about as good as you'd get with a regular television. There may be some pixelation on static graphics and default color settings may not be to your liking, but playing with the settings will fix that for standard viewers. Using a DVI cable hook-up, you'll get an amazing picture that almost makes the cost of DVI cables worth it. The default widescreen picture may look pinched between two large black bars, but changing the picture settings will allow you to eliminate the typical widescreen black bars without sacrificing the edges of the picture.

    Computer monitor:

*Note this television was hooked up to a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 Ultra graphics card*

This is an excellent computer monitor, but ONLY if you use a DVI cable (this will keep you from hooking up a DVD or cable box with a DVI cable). Using an S-video cable to hook this television up to a computer will probably leave you with a massive case of eye strain because text will be blurry and the S-video option doesn't allow you to alter the setting very much. With a DVI hook up, this television can act as an excellent (and huge) computer monitor. With some programs such as video games, you may need to alter the in-game resolution to make it fit with the monitor resolution (tested with World of Warcraft), otherwise the game action will look blurry. Again, changing the setting will fix this problem for most peoples' tastes.

You can have your computer running with the television picture-in-picture or side-by-side (or vice versa), allowing you to work and watch television or a DVD (S-video connection only).

As for points of criticism, this television only has 1 S-video connection, 2 component video connections, and 1 DVI connection. The S-video connection does not face downward like the other connections do so pressing this unit back against a wall isn't possible if you're planning on using an S-video connection. The remote is serviceable, but the picture-in-picture channel must be changed via the remote by going through the on screen menu. The picture-in-picture cannot be swapped without going through the menu as well. The sound is face-forward only, but with a standard surround hook up you won't feel like the TV is projecting sound straight at you.

With any LCD TV, you may find one or two dead pixels (visible on dark backgrounds), so you may want to check the picture before hooking everything up just in case.

For the money and the size, this television can't be beat. I compared this TV to a 20" Sharp Aquos LCD and this Samsung actually came out on top in practically every category, including price. If you're looking for a great LCD television that can also be used as a computer monitor, this is the way to go.

     "i like it" 2005-02-01
    By A. Bond
I spent a lot of time looking at different lcd tv models in the stores. The challenge, as always, was trying to find one in my price range that met my requirements. I was originally looking for a good quality, widescreen, HD-ready, lcd tv for around $1000. I soon found that it was hard to find a good widescreen below $1000. I looked at the off-brand models from Syntax and Apex and I just wasn't impressed with the picture quality. The brands that offered the best picture quality (at least to my untrained eyes) were Sharp, Sony, and this Samsung (some of the other Samsungs didn't look as good though). I am really happy with the picture quality and features of this model. It was easy to setup. I have never used component video inputs before now and it really makes a big difference. My only wish is that I could have gotten one with a larger screen.

     "Outstanding Picture Quality" 2009-09-07
    By Lionel (Delaware)
We needed to replace an old Sony 27" standard definition set and after doing my homework I decided to buy the Samsung LN46B550. When hooked up to an HD cable box, this set delivers an extremely high quality, noise-free, sharp, detailed picture. But its best picture feature is the amazing color quality - the best I've ever seen. Colors and flesh tones are very accurate with good detail in shadow scenes when properly adjusted to realistic saturation levels. I found the picture quality very easy to tune to near-perfection using the numerous built-in picture adjustments. In fact a videophile friend later brought over his video calibration DVD and was amazed to find the set delivering extremely accurate colors and contrast levels with no further adjustment necessary. My wife, who never paid much attention to picture quality, has suddenly become a videophile - she loves watching movies on this set. Next step is to buy a Blu-Ray player to fully exploit the set's capabilities.

I can't comment much on the audio quality because I am hard of hearing. The speakers are certainly more than adequate for my needs, and for watching movies we have the set connected to a home theatre system. I also appreciate the low gloss, matte screen on the B550. In daytime our viewing room can be rather bright but with this set there are no annoying reflections.

     "The Perfect Value HDTV" 2009-09-03
By D. Sourile (Chicago, IL USA)
Price: I couldn't find a better value on the market, not after Amazon through in a free Sharp Aquos HP BD22U Blu Ray Player, not to mention the free shipping and zero sales tax! This is the Consumer Reports best value in its class, and that in itself should tell you that you're getting a great product for a great price. Try and find another 46" LCD that gets you 4 HDMI ports, 70,000:1 contrast ratio, 6ms response time, and good reliable brand name attached to it. You simply can't beat this product for the cost.

Overall Look: Simply beautiful. The piano black trim all the way around is accented nicely (but very subtle, mind you) by the "Touch of Color" feature that is advertised. It is not nearly as bright as it looks in the picture Amazon shows, however in the right lighting you will appreciate it. From 8-10 feet away, all you see on the sleek TV is the Samsung logo dead on the bottom of the frame, but if you look closely on the bottom right you will notice some small words. Take a closer look, and you'll see that they are actually the power button, alongside the volume and channel buttons. However, they are more analogous with touchscreen technology than "buttons." If you had your eyes closed and slid your fingers over that section of the frame of the TV, you would not know there was anything there. Yet they are very sensitive, and adds a lot to the overall look of the TV by being so discrete and unobtrusive. The stand is sturdy and a sleek black color, very simple to put together (4 screws).

Screen: Just perfect. Now I'm not a videophile, but this LCD looks pristine to me. This is my first encounter with an LCD, so I am just blown away. I've drooled over many of them in the stores, but this is the first I've ever owned. I'm coming from a 32" old school TV that weighed like 150lbs. This light, thin, beautiful TV is exactly what I've always wanted, and I couldn't recommend it any more than I am now. There are TONS of picture tweaking options in the Menu, but the TV comes out of the box perfect. I understand that when you buy them from stores like BestBuy, you have to do a lot of tweaking. Since this is straight from the warehouse, the thing looks great straight from the box. It has movie mode, standard mode, and some sort of brighter mode, all of which can be customized. You can adjust the warmth of the colors, the sharpness, the hue, the saturation of the greens/reds, the blackness of the blacks and MUCH, much more. It's a bit overwhelming for someone like myself who isn't a tech freak. Full 1080p with my Sharp Blu-Ray player was just flat out mind-melting. Gorgeous TV. Oh, and the 60HZ has not yet bothered me. I haven't seen a 120HZ side-by-side with the 60HZ yet, but I highly doubt that it is worth the $500 upgrade.

Other: Simple remote control, comes with a little cloth to wipe down your new toy when it gets dusty. Pretty thick instruction manual that I haven't made my way through yet. The box it comes in is HUGE, but it's cool because the top just lifts off, making the TV very easy to remove and set wherever you want it. I can't remember if this is shown on the Amazon synopsis of the product, but the inputs on the side of the TV are on the right side if you're looking at the screen straight on. All my stuff is on the left, so my short cords can't quite reach those. Just a little note to help people plan ahead. No banding that I've seen, no ghost images, no dead pixels, etc. Perfect.

Shipping Service (CEVA Experience): I'd read so many horrible things about this shipping company that I braced myself for the worst. They called me a day after the TV shipped (which was a Friday), and said "your tv will be delivered Wednesday [whatever date] between 3pm and 7pm." They didn't ask, they informed me. I didn't like that much. However, they delivered it on time (around 6:40pm that day), and I received the "White Glove" package that Amazon sets you up with, meaning that two guys came in, took my TV downstairs, opened the box, put the stand and TV together, mounted it where I wanted it, had me plug it in, and made sure it worked before they left. They didn't take my trash (which is part of the "white glove" package), but I wanted it anyways, so it wasn't a big deal. Nice guys, didn't wait around for a tip (I wasn't planning on giving one), and had me simply fill out a paper indicating that they did their job. Overall a good experience!

Quickness: I ordered the TV on a Wednesday, and received it the next Wednesday.

The Bad: The only bad thing I've had happen so far was that when I initially plugged in the TV to my satellite box, the colors were all messed up and the picture was grainy. The blues were green, the pinks were orange, the people's faces were red, etc. However I found out that this was simply because my component cables were bad. Once I plugged in my 3 cent (plus shipping) HDMI cord, all my problems were gone, and the picture was perfect as described above.

Don't hesitate to purchase this TV. You won't regret it. I am now a Samsung fan.

     "Awesome !!!!!" 2009-08-25
    By Chetan Nadgonde
I ordered this a few weeks back to replace my 32" flat screen Sony. I must say that I am awe stuck. Its a wonderful product for the price that you pay. The picture quality is amazing for HD streams. I was in a dilemma to buy LN46B750 but I don't regret a bit buying this one as one can never tell the difference between the picture quality as there is none !!!! Amazon delivered the TV in a week and set up is not difficult at all. I would say go for it......

     "Great TV" 2009-08-20
    By Dwight Lawrence (Laurel, MD)
I've had this set for about two months now and absolutely love it. Even out of the box, the picture is sharp and colors are very accurate. I have a PS3 connected via HDMI for Blu Ray movies, and the image quality is spectacular. I was the bass from the built in speakers was a little deeper, but that's a minor quibble. I would definitely purchase this TV again without a second thought.

"Good TV while it lasts" 2009-09-18
By Sam H (Los Angeles, CA)
I had this TV for about three months. I don't have HD or Blue Ray player, but I still

like the quality and colors. I can't wait until I have a BD player.

I began noticing the problem a few days ago. It would take about a minute or so to

turn on. Starting today, it would take about 5 minutes for the screen to turn on.

After the screens turns on, it stays on for about 30 seconds and then it blacks out again.

This happens two or three times. After that, the screen seems to be stable, but there is

also an issue with the speakers crackling. This problem stays for at least ten minutes if not more.

The good thing is that this thing is still under warranty. But right now, I am kicking

myself for not going with a Sony.

"One of the best in terms of getting your bang for your buck" 2009-09-17
By M. Ryan Smith (Slidell, Louisiana, USA)
Well, this is my first HDTV, so obviously I'm blown away by the visuals. Even playing regular old DVD's look 10x better than they did on my old CRT TV. I won't bore you with the same raving reviews that others have already given this fantastic TV (though they are all correct - this TV is AMAZING). Instead, I have a few things I'd like to point out that maybe contradict what others have said or offer a different point of view:

The sound. Coming from a standard def TV and having never used external speakers, I have absolutely no problem with the sound output of this TV. At max volume it's way louder than you'd ever want it to be, and I find the clarity to be on par with what I'm used to. In the world of music I consider myself an audiophile (all mp3's at 320kbps or greater, as I can easily hear the differences in it vs 128kbps - just so you know my ears are still good). However, in the world of TVs I guess I'm not. I found it to be loud and crystal clear, so if you're like me and never used an external speaker setup then this set should be fine.

The Red Touch of Color. I didn't notice too many reviewers of this model complaining about it, but on others in the Samsung series some people HATED it. I even read one or two of people RETURNING THEIR TV because of it. Just wanted to say that's assinine. When the TV is on you can't even see it unless you are actively looking for it. When the TV is off it's subtle enough that it's either not noticed or perceived as a nice touch to the set.

The matte screen. The matte screen is great at removing glare from ambient lighting. My fiance and I usually have a lamp turned on while watching TV and I've never noticed a glare at all from it. Sunlight through the windows can be seen sometimes, but I suppose that is all based off of where you are sitting, the position of the window to the TV, etc. It does a good job with ambient lighting, but don't think it'll magically remove all glares all the time.

The buttons on the display. Yep, everybody's right. They're difficult to find. Don't lose your remote because Samsung really dropped the ball on this one. Oh well, life goes on, and all in all it's not that big of a deal.

Infolink. Pretty useless at the moment. Gives a broad weather forecast and some news highlights, but nothing special. What I'm excited about is what they do with it in the future. Having an ethernet port on a TV opens up so many posibilities. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table in future models (maybe some Amazon VoD? Netflix streaming? Or how about an internal HDD that automatically fetches the latest edition of podcasts you watch on a weekly basis? Or even a web browser!) I already do these things via my Xbox 360 or using an external HDD connected to the USB port, but it would be nice if this was all integrated into the TV in a future model. I'm very excited to see where the industry goes with this.

Overall, this TV is just plain awesome. And if you're lucky enough to get it under $1000 like I did, then you're getting one heck of a deal. I've been looking for a TV that meets my high standards for about the last 8 or 9 months, and I stumbled upon this one at a price hundreds below what I was willing to spend. Fantastic deal, fantastic TV. You're gonna love it.

And now for my review of CEVA (which in no way will reflect the score I give this PRODUCT. This is a place to rate PRODUCTS, not the service you get from Amazon or other sellers!!).

CEVA was quite simply the most unprofessional service I've ever been given. He did arrive at my place on time, at which point he said he needed my help getting the TV from his van to my living room. Bring a dolly? A cart? So I give him a hand with that, and when he starts unboxing it and tells me "Okay, now you grab that end and we'll lift it straight up...." Oh, ok, so I guess now I'll be setting it up with him, even though it's his job that he's paid to do.

We get it unwrapped and he needs to install the the stand that came with it. The instructions he was reading for it (4 simple pictures in total) indicated he needed to use 8 screws, but the TV came with 12! Oh no! Not 12! What does this mean?! He was completely dumbfounded about why they would send 12 screws if the instructions only called for 8. I had to convince him that it was ok and we could install the stand the way the instructions said. He stayed confused for about the next 5 minutes and finally gave in. He looks at me and says "Ok, well where's your screwdriver? Gonna need a philips head." Are you kidding me? This is your job and you don't bring your own tools?! I don't mind letting people use my tools or anything, but I just can't believe this guy does this on a daily basis and doesn't bring his own equipment. Ridiculous.

Eventually we got the TV set up. Before I had a chance to plug the power cable in he was handing me a piece of paper to sign for delivery. At this point I was getting a bit frustrated, so I politely but firmly told him to wait while I make sure the TV turns on, gets a signal, and there are no signs of defects upon delivery. He obviously didn't like waiting, so I took my time :) Maybe that was my mistake because I then signed for delivery, at which point he assumes job complete. I looked over at the box and packing material and he tells me "Now I am supposed to take the box and everything away if you wish, but I strongly recommend not doing so because if that TV goes bad in a week or so they're gonna want the box it came in for returns." Not wanting to put up with him anymore, I told him to have a nice day. He didn't bother picking up the packing material or anything either. Pretty much left my living room a complete disaster.

Like I said earlier, my experience with CEVA was about as unprofessional as it gets.

I've had this tv up and running for only a few weeks but all I can say is that it is GREAT.

The only down side to it is you will need to get speakers for it. The built in ones are ok but if you want to watch a movie get yourself external speakers. I bought the last of the refurbed Bose Cinemate speakers which are 2.1's. The new ones are digital and will be much better but not in my budget.

Getting the product delivered was an adventure; the shipping company lost the set, but Amazon quickly reshipped and still got the TV to me ontime. The TV's quality made the adventure worth it. Good picture right out of the box using an HDMI cable connecting to the satellite receiver. With tweaking, the picture and sound quality are now both great when viewing HD content. I occasionally get some distortion with fast moving SD content, which prevents me from giving the set a 5 star rating. Overall, I would recommend this set to a friend without reservation.
